The County Clerk's Office consists of two divisions: the Records Division, and the Courts Division. Led by an elected County Clerk, the staff provides a number of services for the residents of Hays County, to include the recording and maintenance of all Commissioners' Court minutes and documents, and the filing and maintenance of County Court cases. The RECORDS DIVISION is located at the Records Building, 137 N. Guadalupe Street, San Marcos, and is the location for recording official public records such as deed, deeds of trust, liens, etc.; issuing Marriage License, Birth Certificates, and Death Certificates. Also located at this building are the Commissioners Court Records.
The COURTS DIVISION is located at the Justice Center, 110 E. MLK Drive, San Marcos, where Misdemeanor Criminal Cases, County Court at Law Civil Cases, and Probate Cases are filed. Jury information is available on the Courts Division page. NOTE: FELONY Criminal Cases and DIVORCES are filed in the District Clerk's office.
